Project
GRAD programs: "Closing the Gaps" Education
Summit 2006
As you may recall, the purpose of
the event is to strengthen the educational pipeline
for Hispanic
students
from Kindergarten
through college by forming collaborative partnerships,
developing solutions, identifying best practices and
sharing both resources
and information. Following completion of the 2003 summit,
the South Plains
Glosing the Gaps Coalition was
founded in order to bring forth attention and responsiveness
to the ideas and
concepts birthed as a result of the summit. This year, the
2006 summit will further strengthen the efforts
of the coalition..
The mission of The South Plains
Closing the Gaps Coalition is to
collaborate to connect students,
families and communities to PK-16
education. Through collaborative
partnerships, networks and shared resources,
the Coalition will work to alleviate economic, cultural and
political barriers in order to facilitate
access, participation and success in
educational opportunities beyond
high school.
The
Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s
GO Campaign is assisting Raiders Rojos with this summit
as part of the College for Texans statewide initiative.
