Project
GRAD programs: Project GRAD
 |
|
Project
GRAD is an initiative of Raiders Rojos National Alumni, a chapter
of the Texas Tech Ex-Students Association. The mission of the
chapter is to promote greater graduation attainment of Hispanic
students in higher education. This initiative is designed to
assist all students with a special emphasis on Hispanic students
from kindergarten through college. Through specific programs
the chapter will target each of the four key objectives identified
in Project GRAD. |

Graduation |
Graduation
attainment
for every student is the primary objective of Project GRAD.
Scholarships to pay for college, college prep courses, summer
camps, educational programs, etc. will create more opportunities
to achieve this objective. |

Retention |
Retention
of all students through high school and college will reduce
the dropout rates and enrich our community with a more educated
and skilled workforce as well as curb the rising youth crime
statistics. Providing intervention programs, mentoring, and
networking opportunities for our students will assist Project
GRAD in achieving this objective. |

Access |
Access
to an education through empowerment of individuals and families
is critical to the success of Project GRAD. Most first generation
students are still unable to navigate the educational pipeline
without assistance. Parents of these students need coaching.
Through one on one interaction, partnerships, and targeted activities,
Project GRAD will address this need. |

Diversity |
Diversity
creates the rich environments that are crucial to democratic,
real-world learning. Because the American workforce will be
predominantly comprised of people of color by the year 2025,
access to higher education for historically underserved individuals
is also in the nations economic self-interest. We all
have a moral and educational responsibility to ensure that talent
is developed in all communities. |
